I am confused. . . but most of all I am a Christian Conservative.

Rand Paul and Voter ID

Rand Paul Is NOT Out Of His Mind

There was a recent article here asking if Rand Paul is out of his mind.  I read it and the basis was an article in a tabloid-type website called The Wire (thewire.com).  The tabloid article was brief, claiming that Paul had joined the anti-voter ID crowd, which they based on a couple of out-of-context comments Paul apparently made and they quoted.  It doesn’t seem to have been reported anywhere else, strangely.

This seemed out of character for any conservative, so I called Rand Paul’s Washington, DC office.  I told them about the article and asked for clarification.  The staffer told me that Paul does not oppose voter ID, but that he believes that it is an issue for the individual states, not the federal government.

Think about that for a minute:  isn’t smaller government and reining in the power of the federal government what we conservatives are all about??  Paul is saying that he believes that the people of the individual states should make those decisions, showing that he is a strong proponent of federalism, that is, supporting the rights of the states and their populations to make their own laws, instead of everything coming from the DC center of federal power.  That’s why we have state legislatures.  Isn’t cutting the power and control of Washington over our lives at the heart of the conservative argument?  When we move those prerogatives to our localities, we enhance our own power and diminish that of the federal government.

His staffer explained further that Paul believes that voter ID should not be a defining issue for the Republican Party.

This is the sort of thing which I have written about in the past: disinformation campaigns directed against conservative front-runners.  It’s what the Democrats and their GOP Establishment allies have done in the past and I have no reason to believe that anything is going to change in that regard.   They’ll take them one –by-one.  Should Paul cease to be a front-runner, they’ll give the next person – Cruz,Palin, Perry…whoever… the same treatment.  So, any time that we see or hear reports of a conservative front-runner which seems to be out of character for that person and the image we have, we should be very careful to verify the information.

To call Senator Paul’s office yourself, here’s the number: 202-224-4343.

Hashtag Activism

From Sean Hannity Daily Newsletter

The saga continues in the case of the captured Nigerian girls who were abducted by the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram. A video has been released, proclaiming that the girls had converted to Islam and shows the girls praying to Allah. The terrorists claim that the girls will be released if Islamic militant prisoners are freed.
Over the weekend, First Lady Michelle Obama used the presidential weekly address to make a statement surrounding the Nigerian school girls. She invoked her own girls, stating, “In these girls, Barack and I see our own daughters.” Last week Michelle Obama tweeted a picture of herself holding up a sign with the hashtag “BringBackOurGirls.” The hashtag has gone viral, with various leaders, celebrities and activists tweeting similar pictures of support.
I’ve explained the failure of Hillary Clinton’s State Department to accurately designate this group as a terrorist organization, rooted in radical, violent Islamic extremism. But our government is so reluctant to label radical Islam as a driving force behind terrorism and violence that it may be hindering our ability to clearly asses threats throughout the world.
Hashtags aren’t going to save these abducted Nigerian girls. Standing up to, and killing these terrorists will

Liberal Colleges

Behold – What Our Institutions Of Higher Education Have Become…

A UC-Santa Barbara student is alleging that during her first day of class last fall, her black studies professor named Otis Madison “warned any Ted Cruz-supporting ‘tea baggers’ to get the hell out of his classroom before he sent them home to their mother in a body bag.”  This apparently happened during a course called “The Obama Phenomenon.”

Alice Gilbert was the student who recalled this incident, and she’s speaking out in The College Fix. She’s one of many who’s starting to come forward and talk about their experiences as conservatives in American universities, where conservatism definitely isn’t cool. And evidently, it’s not just the students who preach that narrative.

Anyone remember when college campuses were supposed to be the places for free thought, tolerance, diversity, open discussion, and LEARNING?  Anyone?

While nothing shocks me anymore in this country, I find this sort of treatment in our universities sickening.  Before I became a full-time Chick on the Right, I used to teach at the university level part-time, in addition to my full time day job, and my students NEVER knew what my political affiliation was.  It simply wasn’t any of their business, and it wasn’t my job to tell them.

It was my job to teach them the subject at hand.

For some odd reason, many liberals don’t understand that concept.  They don’t understand how to keep their personal feelings – and prejudices – out of the classrooms.  They seem to have a real issue focusing on DOING THE JOBS THEY’RE BEING PAID TO DO.  It’s becoming a very obvious, huge problem in our universities.

And it’s the reason I wonder on a daily basis whether or not my four-year old daughter will even go to college one day. If she’s not going to come out with a tangible set of skills, God knows that she, her father, and I are not going to shell out 100-grand+ for her to spend four years getting her head filled with a bunch of useless liberal crap that won’t give her any return on her investment.

Universities should pay attention to that sentiment, actually, because I’m not the only conservative who feels this way, I’m not the only conservative who’s sick of this crap, and I’m definitely not the only conservative who is willing to NOT give money to many universities because they’re obvious liberal indoctrination centers.

In other words, we’re onto you.  And we’re out here busting our asses and writing checks, too.  So just keep that in mind, universities, because someone’s gotta pay your bills, right?
