I am confused. . . but most of all I am a Christian Conservative.

Dear Ivan

Recently ran across this old song by Jimmy Dean.  Not so much music as a great “talking” message.   If I can find this on youtube I will try to add it here.

Our world needs to heal itself and I wish we could all start right here and right now.   Please listen to this a couple of times and just relax and listen.

I Am Offended

If someone has beliefs or says things that I don’t like I just don’t respond and try to change the subject.  I make it a habit not to engage in conversation on sensitive subjects and just not verbalize things that might be not to certain peoples liking.  I have friends and family members who are on the opposite side of the fence from me politically.  With that said it seems that those  who are “Anti – Trump” say and do the most vile hateful and  intolerant things and makes me wonder what is wrong with our nation and how do we fix it.

It seems to me the people who scream “racist” the most and the real racist – everything is not about race.

And also nobody can go through life without seeing, hearing or experiencing things that they don’t like – it is not possible unless you live by yourself on a mountain somewhere.

Ferlin Husky – I Saw God

An old country song I love. I dearly wish todays artists had the faith and values that the older artist did.

The Things Men Do – Rod McKuen

The Things Men DoRod McKuenFrom the album “Sold Out – Rod McKuen Live at Carnegie Hall”, 1969

(I still have this original record – it is one of my favorites)

It makes me cry to see the things
Some men do to one another
Makes me cry to see the things some men do.

Every street’s a battlefield and every door’s a jail
And never the sword and not the shield
Can stay the widow’s wail.
I cannot understand, I will not understand
Why freedom stumbles in our land
And it makes me cry to see the things
Some men do to one another
Makes me cry to see the things some men do.

Every road’s a bitter road and songs are only songs
And when in church children kneel
They cannot right the wrongs
I cannot understand, I will not understand
Why terror rumbles in our land
And it makes me cry to see the things
Some men do to one another
Makes me cry to see the things some men do.

Every night’s a lonesome night that lasts a lonesome year
And torches all the brighter burn
To burn away the fear
I cannot understand, I will not understand
Why freedom staggers in our land.
And it makes me cry to see the things
Some men do to one another
Makes me cry to see the things some men do.

St John Presbyterian – Tampa FL

St John Presbyterian – Tampa FL

POSTED ON JANUARY 26, 2018 UPDATED ON JANUARY 26, 2018

This is the church I grew up in many, many, many, many (is that enough?) years ago.

A small church but with a congregation that worked tirelessly to serve the community.    Besides the church building on their property they have a Walk In Clinic for those that can’t afford health care,  a group home for developmentally disabled adults and a learning center.

Anyone looking for a church home would do well to give St John a try and if I were to still live in Tampa it would still be my choice.  With that said the folks who were the backbone of the church (Mike and Olga Casanueva, Manual and Hortense Beito, and my mom and dad Charlotte and Henry Knight); of course there are others but right now these come to mind first.

Here is a link to their new website,  please give it a browse and consider them for your new church home.
